All over the country, people have come up with whacky ideas to raise money for Children In Need.

And tonight, sees the annual BBC Children in Need Appeal on BBC One, featuring a whole raft of celebrities, helping to raise vital funds for important causes to change the lives of young people.

The evening will be hosted by Tess Daly, Ade Adepitan, Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc and telly presenting couple Marvin and Rochelle Humes. Comedian Tom Allen will also be joining the presenting line-up for the first time this year.

The extravaganza starts at 7pm and will be broadcast live from the BBC’s Elstree studios, which are located in Borehamwood, just north of London.

There’ll be plenty of entertainment, with a Strictly Come Dancing special with the cast of EastEnders, a special visit from The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) of Doctor Who, a Star Wars spectacular, the highly anticipated return of Crackerjack to BBC One, the Countryfile team as you’ve never seen them before and an extra special treat from the England football team.

Throughout the night there will be many segments focusing on the incredible and inspiring stories of brave children who have needed help, along with stories from the 3000+ Children in Need projects around the UK.

Since the first major Appeal in 1980 BBC Children in Need has raised over £1 billion to help make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around the UK.

Last year, Children In Need raised a staggering £50,595,093 million for charity during their Friday evening TV broadcast. An increase from the £50,168,562 raised by the BBC during their live broadcast in 2017, the show’s fundraising figure broke records to become the most the charity had ever managed in one evening.

They have three suggested donation amounts, £30, £50 or £100 – or you can enter your own amount that you would like to donate, starting from £1.

A £30 donation to Children In Need would help pay for a child with a life threatening condition to access sensory equipment that would improve their physical movement, £50 would pay for the equipment needed for an assistance dog and £100 would pay for a child whose sibling has a life limiting condition to receive pre-bereavement support and care to help them cope.
